Your nightstand, your information

Privacy.

Last updated: September 28, 2026

Foldstand is made by ReedTech Consulting. The app does not require an account and does not include advertising* or behavioral tracking.

*YouTube videos you choose to add to a wake scene may include ads from YouTube.

Your setup and media

Alarms, faces, glow settings and imported media are stored on your device. Optional calendar access is used to display your events. We do not receive your calendar contents or imported media through this website.

Photos and files you choose

When you pick a photo or video from Photos, or a file from the Files app, for a wake scene, Foldstand keeps a copy in the app’s private storage on your device (or, for very large files, a reference to it) so your alarm can play it. These files stay on your device, apart from your own device and iCloud backups.

Apple services

Weather uses Apple’s WeatherKit and may send location information to Apple when you allow it. Optional Premium iCloud sync stores your setup in your own iCloud account. Apple processes purchases and payments. See Apple’s privacy policy.

Subscription notifications

Our server receives signed App Store subscription notifications from Apple. These may include transaction identifiers, purchase dates and subscription status. We store them to support purchase operations and diagnose delivery issues. We do not receive your card details. Access is limited to authorized administrators.

YouTube videos and live streams (Premium)

If you add a YouTube video, live stream or channel to a wake scene, Foldstand plays it with YouTube’s official embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode, or opens it in the YouTube app if you choose. While a YouTube video loads or plays, your device connects directly to YouTube (Google), which may collect information under Google’s Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service, and may show ads. When you paste a link, Foldstand asks YouTube for the video’s title and whether it can be embedded. Foldstand does not send YouTube any personal information.

Apple Music (Premium)

If you allow Apple Music access, Foldstand searches Apple Music and your library playlists on your device so you can pick music for a wake scene, and plays it with Apple’s MusicKit. Foldstand stores only the item’s identifier and name in your setup. Apple handles Apple Music playback and subscriptions under Apple’s privacy policy; we don’t receive your library or listening history.

Sample content

The “Wake Up in Orbit” sample scene plays NASA’s public International Space Station live stream from YouTube, as described above. NASA does not endorse Foldstand.

Streams and support

When you play a streaming URL, your device connects to that provider, which may receive your IP address and technical request information. If you contact support, we receive the details you choose to send and use them to respond.

Bug reports and diagnostics

Foldstand keeps a short diagnostic log on your device: about the last week of app activity, such as when alarms were scheduled, rang, were snoozed or stopped, and any playback, purchase or sync errors, plus crash reports iOS provides to the app. It never leaves your device on its own. When you use Report a Bug, you can review the log and choose whether to attach it, and a screenshot, to an email you send us. The log leaves out alarm names, media names and other personal content. We use what you send only to fix the problem and reply to you.

This website

The website does not set advertising cookies or load a third-party analytics script in its source. Our hosting and network providers process technical connection information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Sound previews play only when selected.

Your choices

You can revoke app permissions in iPhone Settings, disable iCloud sync, and remove local app data by deleting the app. Manage cloud data separately in iCloud settings. Contact us with privacy questions or requests concerning support correspondence or server records.
